Self-Report Tests of Personality01:22

Self-Report Tests of Personality

301
Self-report inventories are objective personality assessments that use multiple-choice items or numbered scales, typically ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). They are often called Likert scales after Rensis Likert. These inventories are widely used due to their ease of administration and cost-effectiveness. One of the most prominent examples is the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), initially developed in the 1940s to assess abnormal personality traits.

Nursing Evaluation01:15

Nursing Evaluation

3.2K
The evaluation stage signals the end of the nursing process. The nurse gathers evaluative data to assess whether or not the patient has attained the expected results. Whereas the nurse collects data in the nursing assessment to identify the patient's health concerns, the evaluation stage data determines if the indicated health issues are resolved. Evaluative data collection includes two sections: the data acquired to evaluate patient outcomes and the time criteria for data collection.

Negative and Cognitive Symptoms of Schizophrenia01:30

Negative and Cognitive Symptoms of Schizophrenia

40
Negative symptoms of schizophrenia indicate a reduction or absence of typical behaviors and emotional responses found in healthy individuals, while positive symptoms reflect an excess or distortion of normal functioning.
Negative Symptoms
Negative symptoms of schizophrenia manifest as deficits in normal emotional and behavioral functioning, profoundly impacting daily life. Individuals with schizophrenia often display a flat affect, characterized by a near-total absence of emotional expression,...

Area of Science:

  • Psychometrics
  • Cognitive Function Assessment
  • Neuroscience

Background:

  • Cognitive function assessment is crucial for understanding brain aging and disease.
  • The Short Form Cognitive Function Scale (SFCFS) is a brief, user-friendly tool.
  • Psychometric properties of the SFCFS were unconfirmed in the general Mexican population.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine the psychometric properties of the SFCFS in the general Mexican population.
  • To validate the SFCFS for use in clinical and research settings in Mexico.

Main Methods:

  • Instrumental design with 600 participants.
  • Evaluated factor structure, reliability, measurement invariance, and construct validity.
  • Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were performed.

Main Results:

  • A unifactorial structure with 8 items was verified (α=0.945, Ω=0.946).
  • Measurement invariance confirmed across gender, age, and geographic areas.
  • Adequate convergent, divergent, and discriminant validity were demonstrated.

Conclusions:

  • The SFCFS demonstrates adequate psychometric properties for the Mexican population.
  • It is a valid and reliable instrument for non-clinical and research settings in Mexico.
  • Supports the use of SFCFS for cognitive function assessment in diverse Mexican populations.
