Summary

Scientists created the first fragrant peanut lines by using CRISPR/Cas9 technology to knockout betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase genes. This resulted in significantly higher 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline levels and a strong aroma in the mutant peanut lines.
