Telemedicine provides remote healthcare services through digital technologies, with applications in medical assistance, ongoing professional education, and research. Notable projects include the monitoring of chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes, maternal and child health programs, and support for HIV patients. It is a tool with great potential to address some of the challenges faced by both developed and developing countries in providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality healthcare services. However, it faces significant barriers, such as the lack of technical, financial, and human resources, as well as inadequate regulatory frameworks. To maximize its impact, it is essential to overcome structural challenges and foster international cooperation, promoting equity and social justice globally.
