Asynchronous intraventricular recovery as a basis for apparent 'supernormality'.

G Oreto, F Luzza, H O Klein

    Journal of Electrocardiology

    Summary

Asynchronous recovery of cardiac tissue can explain the supernormal phase of intraventricular conduction. This phenomenon allows for normal QRS complexes early in recovery and bundle branch block patterns later.

    Area of Science:

    • Cardiology
    • Electrophysiology
    • Cardiac Conduction

    Background:

    • The supernormal phase of intraventricular conduction describes a period where early impulses conduct normally and late impulses abnormally.
    • Previous theories on this phenomenon have been varied.
