  • Key facilitators included partner support (100%) and nurse support (71.9%); barriers were neonate's lines/tubes (46.9%) and work commitments (34.4%).

Conclusions:

  • Quantitative assessment of paternal involvement in the SNICU is feasible using the FIQ:NICU.
  • Partner and healthcare professional support are crucial facilitators for fathers' engagement.
  • Addressing barriers like medical equipment and work schedules can enhance paternal involvement in the SNICU.
