Ventilatory acclimatization to hypoxia is not dependent on arterial hypoxemia
Journal of Applied Physiology (Bethesda, Md. : 1985)
|June 1, 1985
Summary
Systemic arterial hypoxemia is not required for ventilatory acclimatization to hypoxia (VAH). Isolated carotid body (CB) hypoxia in goats induced progressive hyperventilation, demonstrating VAH can occur without affecting the whole body.
