    • International guidelines for critical care echocardiography accreditation were analyzed.

    • While Irish accreditation aligns with some international standards for TTE, TOE accreditation requires further development.
    • Challenges in achieving competency persist due to curriculum gaps.
    • Enhancing local training programs and national courses, potentially with future fellowships, can improve training accessibility and quality in Irish ICUs.
