Background:

  • CLDN18.2 is an emerging therapeutic target for solid tumors.
  • Limited data exists on CLDN18.2 expression in primary and metastatic cancers.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To analyze CLDN18.2 expression in primary and metastatic adenocarcinomas.
  • To investigate CLDN18.2 expression in primary ovarian mucinous tumors.
  • To correlate CLDN18.2 expression with clinicopathologic features and survival.

Main Methods:

  • Immunohistochemistry was used to assess CLDN18.2 expression.
  • 102 patients with primary and metastatic adenocarcinomas were analyzed.
  • 81 cases of primary ovarian mucinous tumors were included.

Main Results:

  • Gastric adenocarcinomas showed the highest CLDN18.2 positivity (40%).
  • Primary ovarian mucinous tumors exhibited high CLDN18.2 expression (77%).
  • CLDN18.2 expression was generally maintained in metastases, with some variations.

Conclusions:

  • Preserved CLDN18.2 expression in metastases supports its therapeutic potential.
  • Evaluating CLDN18.2 in primary and metastatic tumors is crucial for treatment strategies.
