Elevated adiponectin levels are linked to increased risk of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer in Hepatitis B virus (HBV) carriers. This study suggests adiponectin may be a key factor in HBV progression and a potential target for new treatments.

Background:
- Previous studies indicated a link between elevated adiponectin and increased risk of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in Hepatitis B virus (HBV) carriers.

- The precise mechanisms by which adiponectin influences HBV infection and carcinogenesis require further investigation.
- Understanding these mechanisms could lead to novel therapeutic targets, improved HBV surveillance biomarkers, and enhanced cancer prevention strategies.
