Isolated intrapulmonary haemorrhage. An unusual complication of internal jugular vein cannulation

A case of intrapulmonary haemorrhage following internal jugular vein cannulation is described and the subsequent treatment outlined. A cautionary note is expressed, especially when the procedure is performed in obese, thick-set individuals with chronic lung disease.
