Genetic Polymorphism of GSTM1, GSTT1, GSTP1 Genes and Breast Cancer Risk in Rural Maharashtra: Insights from a Case-

Glutathione S-transferase T1 (GSTT1) null genotypes increase breast cancer risk by 2.45-fold in rural Maharashtra women. Conversely, GSTP1 heterozygous variants are linked to decreased breast cancer susceptibility.

- GSTP1 heterozygous Ala/Val genotype showed a significant association with decreased BC risk (OR = 0.26; 95% CI = 0.18-0.35).
Conclusions:
- GSTT1 null genotype is a significant risk factor for breast cancer in rural Maharashtra women.
- GSTP1 heterozygous variant genotype demonstrates a protective effect against breast cancer in this population.
