1.6-Tbps low-power linear-drive high-density optical interface for machine learning/artificial intelligence
Abstract:
We demonstrate a high-density, high-speed, low-latency, low-power, fully-packaged optical engine operating real-time at 16 × 106.25-Gbps (full-duplex) and achieving a chiplet edge input/output density of 246 Gbps/mm, 2D-arrayable to Tbps/mm. The engine can be operated at up to 85°C case temperature without significant performance degradation and has an optical reach of 2 km transmission on standard single mode fiber. With built-in analog equalization, this linear-drive optical interface bridges 58 dB of total electrical link loss at Nyquist between the TX and the RX serializer/deserializer.
