    Severe stuttering in two adults resolved with the onset of progressive multiple sclerosis (MS). Cerebellar dysfunction, indicated by lesions, may have caused the speech changes, suggesting a link between neurological conditions and stuttering.

    • Two adult patients with severe, persistent stuttering experienced cessation of symptoms.
    • The resolution of stuttering coincided with the development of progressive MS signs.
    • Clinical examination revealed bilateral cerebellar dysfunction in both patients.

    Findings:

    • The development of cerebellar lesions in MS patients was associated with the disappearance of stuttering.
    • Other speech impairments emerged as stuttering resolved, further implicating cerebellar involvement.
    • Cerebellar dysfunction is hypothesized as the cause for stuttering abolition.

    • This case study suggests a potential neurobiological link between cerebellar function and stuttering.
    • Further research into cerebellar lesions and their effect on speech production is warranted.
