Abstract:
Türkiye, positioned at the convergence of the African, Arabian, and Eurasian tectonic plates, is highly susceptible to earthquakes.1,2 The 1999 Marmara and 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes are 2 significant seismic events that have tested and shaped Türkiye's disaster management strategies. This study aims to provide a comparative analysis of these earthquakes within the framework of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, highlighting the evolution in disaster preparedness and response.
