Clinical and echocardiographic differences between rheumatic and degenerative mitral stenosis

Degenerative mitral stenosis (DMS) is increasingly common, with patients being older and having more comorbidities than those with rheumatic mitral stenosis (RMS). However, the cause of mitral stenosis (MS) did not independently affect mortality or heart failure hospitalisation outcomes.
