Equipments Used To Measure Blood Pressure01:30

Equipments Used To Measure Blood Pressure

Direct Method
This invasive approach involves cannulating a peripheral artery. During each cardiac contraction, pressure generates mechanical motion within the catheter, transmitted through rigid, fluid-filled tubing to a transducer. This transducer converts mechanical motion into electrical signals displayed as waveforms on a monitor. An automatic flushing system prevents blood backflow. Due to the potential risk of unexpected arterial blood loss, this method is primarily used in intensive...

Area of Science:

  • Exercise Physiology
  • Human-Computer Interaction
  • Sports Technology

Background:

  • Gamification is widely used in aerobic training but underutilized in resistance training.
  • Traditional strength training often relies on intrinsic motivation, potentially limiting adherence.
  • Wearable sensors offer opportunities for data-driven, interactive exercise experiences.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop and evaluate a gamified resistance training program using wearable sensors.
  • To investigate the impact of real-time feedback on exercise adherence and technique.
  • To assess the effects of gamification on muscle hypertrophy and strength development.

Main Methods:

  • Developed a gamified resistance training system incorporating wearable sensors for real-time feedback.
  • Conducted a four-week comparative study with gamified and conventional resistance training groups.
  • Measured volitional adherence to tempo/repetition targets and upper body strength adaptations.

Main Results:

  • Gamified resistance training significantly improved adherence to prescribed tempo and repetition schemes.
  • Participants in the gamified group showed greater improvements in upper body strength.
  • The system provided effective real-time feedback for controlling training variables like form and tempo.

Conclusions:

  • Gamification integrated with wearable sensors enhances resistance training effectiveness and motivation.
  • Interactive, data-driven approaches can optimize adherence and strength adaptations.
  • This technology holds potential for improving resistance exercise outcomes.
