Abstract:
The Southern Alps are a vast, rural and mountainous region. The number of cardiologists in the region is falling at a worrying rate, while the number of people suffering from heart failure is soaring. Access to specialist care for these increasingly elderly patients is now a real public health issue. A new organisation, working closely with private practitioners, and innovative models are becoming essential if these patients are to be maintained and cared for at home.
