Abstract:
Patient participation is critical for the success and acceptance of mHealth applications. Many digital health solutions lack sufficient patient input, often resulting in limited use and effectiveness. As part of a project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), an mHealth app was developed for former intensive care patients at risk for Post Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS). To assess app usage and identify reasons for non-use, a survey was developed using standardized questionnaires, including the German mHealth App Usability Questionnaire (G-MAUQ) and the WHO-5 Well-Being Index. Patients completed the survey during 3 follow-up exams with study nurse support. This method allows for comprehensive feedback to enhance app usability and acceptance. Currently, over 25 patients have completed the survey, with 150 app users set to participate.
