Abstract:
The rising number of individuals in need of care, coupled with a shortage of qualified caregiving professionals due to demographic shifts, poses a challenge for the healthcare sector. The research project "Linked Care" aims to mitigate these effects by developing a digital solution to connect caregivers, doctors, and pharmacies to optimize workflow efficiency, allowing caregivers more time with their patients. This paper describes the development of a software demonstrator simulating the workflow of medication approval and dispense as realized through Linked Care for education and training purposes. In a mixed method approach the requirements were elicited and suitable technologies selected. Based on this, the system using HAPI FHIR, React and Ant Design was built in iterative development cycles and evaluated based on the ISO/IEC 25010:2011 quality criteria and practical test runs. It is now used as an educational tool for students to learn about healthcare interoperability and mobile medication dispensing. There is potential to apply future versions in testing or training environments for health professionals.
