Telemedicine in Italy: The Case of Frosinone Local Health Unit

Aim of this paper is to provide a representation of the telemedicine model implemented in Italy after the COVID-19 experience. Telemedicine has opened up new possibilities for improving access to medical care as well make health services more efficient and effective, overcoming geographical barriers. Despite these advantages, in Italy the introduction of such services by national health system was poor. Since 2020, national authorities have been designing a structured model for the use of telemedicine. This model has been compulsorily implemented by local hospitals that had already launched experimental telemedicine services in the emergency. To this end, after an analysis of the national legislation, the model implemented in a local health unit is presented.
