    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the effects of experimentally induced retinal image degradation on refractive development in young chicks.
    • To compare the impact of different types of visual field impairment on myopia induction.

    Main Methods:

    • Three-day-old chicks were fitted with either domes (affecting the entire visual field) or arches (affecting the lateral visual field).
    • A control group wore a circumorbital ring, and another group was untreated.
    • Refractive states were objectively measured using a Maxwellian view optometer at ages 3 to 7 weeks.
