Two defective metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), Ce-MOF-808-X (X = NH2, Br), have been fabricated and presented apparently boosted activity and selectivity compared with pristine Ce-MOF-808 in photothermal synergistic catalysis of cyclohexane oxidation. The significantly enhanced catalytic activity can be attributed to the increased exposure of active sites, elevated Ce(IV) content, efficient charge transfer, suppressed charge recombination, and the promoted synergistic effect of photothermal catalysis.

Conjugated systems containing an even number of π-electron pairs undergo a conrotatory ring closure. For example, thermal electrocyclization of (2E,4E)-2,4-hexadiene, a conjugated diene containing two π-electron pairs, gives trans-3,4-dimethylcyclobutene.
