  • The accuracy of digital impressions for complete-arch implant-supported fixed dental prostheses (FDP) is debated.
  • Limited systematic reviews compare intraoral scanning (IOS) and stereophotogrammetry (SPG).

Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare the accuracy of IOS and SPG for complete-arch implant impressions.
  • Evaluate current digital technologies for capturing full-arch implant data.

Main Methods:

  • Systematic review and meta-analysis of 13 studies (3 in vivo, 10 in vitro).
  • Searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane CENTRAL databases.
  • Assessed accuracy via linear, angular, surface deviations, and inter-implant distances.

Main Results:

  • Stereophotogrammetry (SPG) demonstrated higher accuracy than IOS in 10 of 13 studies.
  • Meta-analyses favored SPG for surface deviation trueness/precision and angular deviation trueness (p < 0.05).

Conclusions:

  • Further clinical trials are needed; rigid prototype try-in remains recommended.
