Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • Evaluate knowledge and practice patterns of American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH) members regarding BNHD.
  • Identify educational deficiencies and variability in clinical approaches to BNHD.

Main Methods:

  • A 17-question survey was emailed to ASSH members in Fall 2022.
  • Survey included evidence-based practice (EBP) and practice pattern (PP) questions.
  • Responses analyzed for correct EBP answers and PP consensus/variability.

Main Results:

  • Over 50% of 356 respondents answered 6/12 EBP questions correctly.
  • Knowledge gaps identified in managing giant cell tumors and enchondromas.
  • PP questions revealed significant variability in clinical decision-making.
