Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare

Background:

Technological advancements are transforming nursing education, necessitating systematic frameworks for integrating advanced technologies.
There is a critical need for structured approaches to incorporate new technologies into nursing curricula effectively.
The Artificial Intelligence-Driven Technology Adoption in Nursing Education (AID-TANE) framework was developed to address this need.

Purpose of the Study:

To introduce and operationalize the AID-TANE framework.
To evaluate the impact of an AI-driven educational intervention on undergraduate nursing students' knowledge and learning experiences.
To assess the effectiveness of AI in improving understanding of geriatric care among nursing students.

Main Methods:

A convergent mixed-methods pre/post-test pilot study design was employed.
160 senior-level community health nursing students participated in an AI-driven educational intervention.
Quantitative data were collected using the Facts on Aging quiz, and qualitative data from reflective surveys; analyzed using paired-sample t-tests and content analysis.

Main Results:

A statistically significant increase in knowledge about older adults was observed, with mean scores rising post-intervention (p < 0.001).
Qualitative analysis revealed four key themes: communication, patience, empathy, respect for independence, and challenging stereotypes.
AI-driven tools positively impacted students' learning experiences and knowledge acquisition regarding geriatric care.

Conclusions:

AI-driven educational tools demonstrably improve nursing students' knowledge of older adults.
The AID-TANE framework provides a necessary structure for integrating AI into nursing education.
Effective integration of AI prepares nursing students for technologically advanced healthcare settings.
