The mental and physical health of healthcare professionals is crucial to their professional fulfillment and the quality of care they provide. Tools such as the Professional Fulfillment Index help assess well-being and detect early signs of physician burnout. In Switzerland, the multicenter COMET study is monitoring the trajectories of a cohort of resident physicians in general internal medicine. Preliminary results indicate low levels of professional fulfillment and high levels of occupational burnout among the respondents. Wellness programs offer multi-level solutions aimed at fostering a healthy work environment. It is essential to continue implementing strategies that promote physician well-being, as this also positively impacts the quality of patient care.
