Abstract:
Bi2S3 films were synthesized by sulfurizing sputtered Bi and Bi2O3 (α, β phases). Metallic Bi enabled a more efficient conversion, while Bi2O3 impeded Bi2S3 formation due to its strong Bi-O bonds. Sulfur distribution along film depth significantly affected photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance, underscoring the critical importance of precursor selection for optimized functionality.
