Abstract:
Plants have evolved mechanisms to measure seasonal time and flower during the most favorable period of the year. In this issue of Developmental Cell, Takagi et al. identify FLP1, a small protein produced in the leaf veins of Arabidopsis, that promotes flowering and inflorescence stem elongation under natural light conditions.
