Comparative Study on Implant Stability Using Osseodensification and Conventional Drilling

Background:
Osseointegration (OI) involves primary stability (PS) achieved mechanically and secondary stability (SS) gained biologically.
Materials And Methods:
A total of 42 dental implants were placed in two groups. Group A (n=21) underwent osteotomy using conventional drilling, while Group B (n=21) received OD-based preparation. IS was measured during both PS and SS phases using a standardized method.
Results:
Group B (OD) demonstrated higher IS values than Group A (CD) in both PS and SS phases. A significant difference was noted in PS for the OD group (OD P), indicating improved mechanical anchorage at insertion.
Conclusion:
Osseodensification enhances implant stability more effectively than conventional drilling in both primary and secondary phases of osseointegration.
