New seleno-substituted bis-(boron difluoride)-8-imidazo-dipyrro-methene (BOIMPY) derivatives show promise for cancer treatment. These compounds offer improved photophysical properties for imaging-guided photodynamic therapy (PDT) with high efficacy and low toxicity.
