Abstract:
In the operating theatre, inhalation or prolonged contact with formalin or formaldehyde can cause irritation, allergic reactions and even cancer of the respiratory tract. Appropriate, safe equipment reduces these serious risks. Particular attention is paid to the risk of contamination by Aspergillus, which can be present on surfaces and in the air. In some blocks, cardboard boxes are prohibited to avoid this risk. Employers must put in place training and material measures to reduce the risk of blood exposure accidents; the professional must also get involved in the fight against this hazard.
