Existing research on bariatric surgery's effect on sexual health is limited, necessitating a literature analysis.
Understanding the current research landscape is crucial for guiding future studies in this domain.

Purpose of the Study:

To conduct a bibliometric analysis of publications concerning bariatric surgery and sexual health.
To identify trends, key topics, and research gaps in the literature.
To provide insights for future research directions.

Main Methods:

A comprehensive search of the Web of Science database was performed using keywords related to bariatric surgery and sexual health.
A total of 217 publications from 1996 to 2025 were analyzed.
Bibliometric analysis techniques, including treemaps and thematic mapping, were employed using R software.

Main Results:

The United States led in publications, with bariatric surgery being the primary journal.
Prominent keywords included weight loss, quality of life, and erectile dysfunction.
Recent trends highlight infertility, overweight, pregnancy, contraception, and erectile dysfunction, with quality of life as a developed but isolated topic.

Conclusions:

The field of sexual health in bariatric surgery is rapidly expanding.
Current literature predominantly focuses on male sexual problems and women's health in the context of pregnancy.
There is a significant need for research addressing women's sexual health beyond pregnancy.
