Predominant peripheral lesions (PPL) in the eye are strongly linked to systemic vascular complications in diabetes mellitus (DM). Early detection of PPL may improve risk stratification and management of these severe conditions.

- PPL presence and extent significantly correlated with peripheral arterial disease, coronary artery disease, and stroke.
- PPL were also associated with diabetic nephropathy and reduced estimated glomerular filtration rate.

- A strong link exists between PPL and systemic vascular complications in diabetes mellitus.
- PPL may serve as an imaging biomarker for systemic vascular susceptibility.
- Early PPL detection can aid in risk stratification and proactive management of diabetic vascular complications.
