[Analgesic effect, tolerance development and dependence potential of D-phenylalanine]

The amino acid D-phenylalanine (D-Phe) offers dose-dependent pain relief comparable to non-narcotic analgesics but with a longer duration. Importantly, D-Phe did not lead to tolerance or drug dependence in animal studies.
