Drug transporters in drug disposition - highlights from the year 2024

Abstract:
On behalf of my coauthors, I am pleased to present our fifth annual review highlighting articles in the field of drug transporters that have been deemed as influential. The field of drug-transporters is rapidly evolving with new transporter structure data, in vitro/in vivo models in addition to clinical tools being applied to better understand their role in drug disposition. Each coauthor has selected peer-reviewed articles from the year 2024 and provided a brief summary with a commentary, as done in our previous reviews. (Chothe et al. 2021, 2022,2023, 2024). The review is divided into the following sections based on the selected articles: 1) transporter structure and in vitro evaluation, 2) novel in vitro/in vivo models, 3) endogenous biomarkers and 4) drug transporters and toxicity. As these commentaries are meant to provide brief highlights of the articles, readers are encouraged to consult the original articles for further details. I would also like to thank my coauthors for their work and dedication to this review over the years.
