CYP2D6 Phenotypes and Emergency Department Visits Among Patients Receiving Opioid Treatment

- Impaired CYP2D6 activity is associated with an increased risk of emergency department visits in patients treated with CYP2D6-metabolized opioids.
- Integrating CYP2D6 genotype and drug interaction data into clinical practice may optimize opioid prescribing for better pain management and reduced healthcare utilization.
