Efficient strong-field THz generation from BNA organic crystal pumped by a 1030 nm Yb-laser
Abstract:
We demonstrate the generation of strong-field THz radiation using organic BNA crystals, showcasing their potential for integration with industrial-grade laser systems operating at 1030 nm. The 350-μm thick BNA crystal mounted on a sapphire substrate demonstrated a conversion efficiency of 0.44%, generating a THz energy output of 0.53 μJ, corresponding to a THz field strength of 600 kV/cm. It was also shown that the THz field strength can reach 1 MV/cm peak values for a limited duration of time. The THz spectral dependencies on the optical pump pulse duration and power were measured, and the crystal damage threshold was estimated. The results demonstrate the potential of organic BNA crystals for strong-field THz radiation generation when pumped by an industrial-grade Yb-laser.
