  • To systematically evaluate the availability and findability of definitions for "racial health equity/equities" and related terms on prominent US health organization websites.

  • A systematic review of 69 websites from government, professional, and healthcare organizations was conducted.
  • Search terms included "racial health equity/equities," "racial health inequity," and "racial health disparities."
  • A findability tool assessed the ease of locating definitions, with analysis of themes and sentiments.

Main Results:

  • Half of the analyzed websites (31/69) did not provide definitions for racial health equity terms.
  • Of the 38 websites that did offer definitions, most lacked citations and the information was rated as "very difficult" to find.
  • Definitions varied significantly across websites, indicating a lack of standardization.

Conclusions:

  • There is a significant absence of a systematic, standardized approach to presenting racial health equity information on major health websites.
  • The inconsistent and difficult-to-find nature of definitions for racial health equity hinders equitable access to this critical information.
  • Standardized definitions and improved findability are needed to ensure health equity information is accessible and actionable.
