Summary

Background:

  • Renal denervation (RDN) effectively treats uncontrolled hypertension, commonly using femoral access.
  • Vascular complications are the most frequent adverse events associated with RDN procedures.

Observation:

  • A 57-year-old male with resistant hypertension underwent bilateral RDN.
  • A novel 4-F ultrasound catheter was utilized via left radial arterial access in the REDUCED 1 clinical study.

Findings:

  • The transradial RDN procedure was uneventful.
  • Significant reductions in both ambulatory and office blood pressure were observed at 3-month follow-up.

Implications:

  • Transradial RDN with this ultrasound catheter is feasible and safe.
  • The radial approach may decrease access-site complications and facilitate same-day patient discharge.
  • Further research is warranted to validate the benefits of this transradial system.
