Abstract:
Providing care for disorders of gut-brain axis interaction (DGBI) and motility disorders in low-resource countries is challenging due to limitations in access to public health systems and therapeutic tools. In many countries, caregivers are responsible for paying for the treatment of their child's health care expenses. There are growing epidemiologic data about DGBI in countries with limited resources; however, clinical trials of new treatments for DGBI in such countries are sparse. In this review, we summarize epidemiologic data, physicians' knowledge, and treatments utilized in countries with limited resources pertaining to DGBI.
