Background:

Aniridic glaucoma presents unique challenges for intraocular pressure (IOP) management.
Long-term outcomes of glaucoma surgery in aniridia are crucial for patient care.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate the long-term clinical efficacy and safety of Ahmed Glaucoma Valve implantation.
To assess the impact on intraocular pressure and medication usage in patients with aniridic glaucoma.

Main Methods:

Retrospective, interventional case series of 20 eyes in 15 patients with aniridic glaucoma.
Ahmed Glaucoma Valve (Model FP7) implantation was performed.
Data collected included IOP, medication count, surgical success, and complications.

Main Results:

Significant reduction in IOP and number of glaucoma medications at 7 years post-surgery (P<0.0005).
Mean IOP decreased from 31.6 mmHg to 15.6 mmHg; medications reduced from 3.0 to 0.8.
95% cumulative success rate at 7 years; complications were transient and resolved without vision loss.

Conclusions:

Ahmed Glaucoma Valve implantation provides effective long-term IOP control for aniridic glaucoma.
The procedure is associated with a favorable safety profile, with complications not leading to vision loss.
