None:
A π-conjugated molecule with triply stacked π-planes was synthesized using a modular approach combining two cruciform dihydrodiazapentacene (DHDAP) dimers and a biphenyl unit. Structural, photophysical, and electrochemical analyses revealed unique properties arising from the orthogonal and stacked π-planes, including the multielectron redox behavior and charge-transfer emission. X-ray analysis of the dication revealed that the two-electron oxidation led to a parallel arrangement of the stacked π-planes. These findings demonstrate the utility of this synthetic strategy for the construction of three-dimensional π-conjugated systems.
