Abstract:
As countries embark on national-scale health data repositories, the challenge of creating and maintaining public health reports arises. Accuracy, timeliness, and consistency are key to effective disease surveillance and public health planning. With this shift to digitalization, new analysis methods are needed to leverage these vast data pools, providing real-time insights, improving disease monitoring, and informing better policy decisions. However, these opportunities come with risks such as potential data breaches, privacy concerns, and the misinterpretation of complex data. Additional resources are required, including investments in key personnel for governance and data management (people), advanced analytics algorithms with robust cybersecurity measures (process), and ongoing maintenance of data infrastructure (technology).
