Graphene suspensions in carbon tetrachloride: an excellent nonlinear optical limiting material with a high damage
Abstract:
We present and validate a novel, to our knowledge, and excellent nonlinear optical limiting (NOL) material-graphene suspension in carbon tetrachloride (CCl4). We measured the transmittance of the graphene suspension at three concentrations and three solution thicknesses at the wavelength of 1064 nm. Notably, at a concentration of 0.014 mg/mL and a thickness of 10 mm, the suspension exhibited the best limiting effect, with a high optical limiting coefficient of 0.48 and a high damage threshold of (8.43±0.63)J/cm2. These experimental results indicate that the graphene suspensions in CCl4 exhibit an excellent NOL effect and a high damage threshold at a wavelength of 1064 nm.
