Optical phase modulation induced by metasurface mirror for realization of linearly polarized organic light-emitting
Abstract:
The realization of linearly polarized emissions in organic light-emitting diodes has emerged as a significant research focus, driven by its potential for advanced display and optical applications. However, conventional approaches for generating polarized light often involve complex out-coupling structures or mechanical treatments that may reduce device efficiency and pose difficulties in large-area fabrication. In this study, we introduce a strategy utilizing a metasurface mirror as the bottom reflector to enable high-efficiency polarized light emission. This metasurface, featuring subwavelength groove arrays, strategically enhances the emission of targeted polarizations while effectively suppressing the emission of orthogonal polarizations via precise reflection phase control. Our results demonstrate a significant increase of 36.7% in the emission efficiency for a specific polarization direction, along with improved color stability at wide viewing angles. This innovation represents a significant advancement in the development of high-performance, linearly polarized light-emitting diodes, offering a scalable and efficient solution for next-generation optoelectronic applications.
