Demonstration of 200G pre-amplified self-coherent PON
Abstract:
In this paper, we propose and demonstrate a C-band 200G pre-amplified self-coherent passive optical network (SC-PON). To mitigate the reduction in receiver sensitivity resulting from co-transmitted carriers in self-coherent systems, a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is deployed at the ONU side before a Stokes vector receiver. To demonstrate the feasibility of our proposal, we conduct a proof-of-concept system experiment using a pre-amplified 50-GBaud 16-QAM SC-PON in the downstream direction. Remarkably, we achieve a data rate of 200Gb/s/λ over a 20-km single-mode fiber (SMF) with a receiver sensitivity of -19 dBm. Moreover, our system surpasses the power budget specified by ITU-T class N1 and IEEE class PR(X), achieving a power budget beyond 30 dB under the 15% SD-FEC threshold of 2 × 10-2.

The Maximum Power Transfer Theorem
The load connected draws the current, and the circuit delivers the power to the load. The alternating current flowing through the load is determined using the rectangular form of voltages, currents, network impedance, and load impedance. The average power delivered to the load is obtained from the product of the square of current and load resistance.
Cascaded Op Amps
In a cascaded system, each op-amp is referred to as a stage. The output of one stage drives the input of the subsequent stage. As the input signal passes through...
