Research Progress of Coumarins in the Genus Angelica

Abstract:
Angelica L., a genus in the Apiales family, has about 110 species that have been found in the world, which includes 52 different therapeutic herbs in addition to Angelica sinensis, Angelica dahurica, and Angelica pubescens, is rich in medicinal plant resources and is widely dispersed. It has a great therapeutic potential and is frequently used in clinical practice as a type of bulk medicinal herb. As traditional medicinal plants, many kinds of Angelica plants possess medicinal value, such as the customary benefits of blood tonification, blood circulation stimulation, menstrual regulation, pain relief, laxative action, antiaging, antioxidant, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antitumor properties. The coumarins in Angelica are the fundamental source of the medicinal properties, according to contemporary studies. To provide references for the next in-depth study of Angelica coumarins, the chemical structures and pharmacological effects were examined through a compilation of pertinent domestic and international literature in this paper.
