Simulation-based education method is an effective pedagogical method for enhancing student nurse-midwives to collaborate effectively during emergencies of postpartum hemorrhage in clinical practice.

The study aimed at exploring student nurse-midwives experiences in managing postpartum hemorrhage during clinical practice after being trained with simulation-based education method. This study is a part of a larger study exploring improved competence for the control of post- partum hemorrhage using simulation- based education method.

An exploratory, descriptive qualitative design was employed.

Semi-structured interviews was conducted among 18 student nurse-midwives in one college of health and allied science. Purposeful sampling selected students who had cared for a woman with postpartum hemorrhage in clinical area. Data were analysed thematically using Braun and Clarke.

Two major themes emerged from the analysis: (1) The practice shock. This theme included two sub-themes: (1) Inadequate supplies and shortage of human resources delayed responsiveness and (2) Unsupportive and risky work in a stressful environment. The second theme encouraged to improve care. This theme also comprised two sub-themes (1) feedback that boosts readiness for real-life work and (2) The need for teamwork to share knowledge and skills with colleagues.

Student nurse-midwives experiences of managing postpartum hemorrhage after simulation training showed that teamwork and constructive feedback may enhance professional growth and preparedness for real practice. However, inadequate supplies and staffing can lead to practice shock, delaying timely care for women with postpartum hemorrhage.
