[Treatment of superficial ureteral tumors using the neodymium-YAG laser]

Abstract:
Today NYG laser radiation can be combined with ureteroscopy for endoscopic staging as well as the treatment of ureteral tumors. In a small series of 10 patients, 13 ureteral tumors were laser-irradiated. The mean follow-up was 23 months. Only one heterotopic tumor recurred after 14 months. Therefore, we feel carrying out nephroureterectomy as the first therapeutic step is unnecessary and should be avoided.
