Summary

Dual growth factor release from collagen-based polyelectrolyte multilayer films (PEMs) on titanium implants significantly improved periimplant bone formation and contact. Simultaneous release of bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) and vascular endothelial growth factor (rhVEGF165) was key for enhanced bone healing.
